After a couple of mornings spent in doctor's offices for Tyler, trying to figure out what's going on with him, decided to do an MRI. Got it scheduled for the next day (today). Are used to this routine, although it's been (gratefully) 9 months since he's had to be sedated.

It was fun to play one-on-one with Tyler. I don't get to do that very often.

Everything was smooth sailing after they finally got an IV placed (it took 5 or 6 tries...that was the saddest part). Even seeing him put to sleep didn't bother me this time. I guess there are benefits (though slim) to having seen that done to him lots of times before. Heard results back: no shunt malfunction (happy day!!!), glioma unchanged since last scan. The only thing they found was a bilateral moderate sinus infection--funny because he doesn't even have any nasal discharge. Will take that ANY DAY over a shunt malfunction!

Grilled out tonight. Was nice to relax for a little while after a tiring day at the hospital.

Tonight we went and all 4 got flu shots. I explained to the boys on the way there that each of us was going to get just one poke and that was all (poor Tyler...another poke today is all he needed!). When we got in there, Brian got his, then Tyler, then me. We told Jacob he didn't even have to get a poke after all because he could just get the one they put in his nose. He gave us a good scowl, then said, "no, I want a poke!" Brian and I looked at each other. Brian explained it to him again to make sure he understood. We both agreed to let him choose. Asked him if he really wanted a poke, and he held out his arm and said, "here, my am ready!" Brian and I just looked at each other and laughed. When the poke came he grimaced just a little bit, but no cry. The nurse was really surprised too!
