Doctor visit

Tyler's neurosurgeon just stopped by and said the MRI looked like the syrinx (the pocket of fluid in his spinal cord) was bigger today than it was in February (which was the reason for this surgery).  The flow looked good around his chairi malformation (thanks to a successful surgery).  He is a little concerned about some scar tissue that might be tethering the lower tip of his spinal cord:(  Tyler will have another MRI in 3 months and if the syrinx has gotten worse then he may need to surgically repair that end of his spinal cord. 
It seems to be the story of Tyler's life.  One problem fixed or at least improved, another challenge unearthed. 
Uncle Thane would look for the spiritual application in that.  One is that life is much like that.  We find and tackle our weaknesses one at a time, which process typically sheds light on another thing we can improve upon.  That is why we are here on this earth: to become better and better.  To be as good as we can be.  And good things don't come without sweat, work, and maybe even some tears and pain. 

Another spiritual application is that blessings often come In disguise.  I'm sure this one will be no different.  

Brian and I were visiting with Daniel Jorgensen, the son of a family friend,and were so impressed bY his wonderful attitude. He came into the hospital for a serious repair, which went well, but a spinoff of that surgery caused him to lose the lower part of one of his legs.  He said he knows that Heavenly Fathers will will be done.  His faith strengthened mine and Brian's as we then headed back to see if there was any update for us about Tyler, who was in surgery at the time.  

How thankful I am for our understanding of the purpose of this life. We have all that is most important--our children are bound to us eternally because of covenants we have made in hold temples and which we are doing our best to honor.  And we have the gospel of Jesus Christ, which helps us understand all the rest.  

Life is good.  God is good.  He is always on our side, and that is always a safe place.
