scooping out pumpkins so we can roast the seeds.

Jacob didn't really like the feel of it. Tyler didn't mind it. But Blake would absolutely not touch it again after he felt it once. (And I was standing right behind Blake to catch him just in case...)

Trying to get him to touch it. No way!

Trick or treating at the mall

Jacob with his new haircut. Thank you Jamie for the tips. I had so much fun learning how to cut with scissors instead of just clippers.
Found out at 4:30 that Parmatown Mall's trick or treating started at 6pm (tonight). Called Jamie to see if she wanted to come with us...spur of the moment. And she and Marcus and their girls and me and the boys went together. It was so much fun, and a great distraction from thinking about Brian being gone another night.
My little cowboy. You can't see the other cowboy boot. Thank you Julia--my sister!
Jamie with Cyndal, the beautiful butterly.
Tyler the giraffe.
We ran into Tara and James and their kids by chance, and ended up with such a fun group of us. So glad we went.
The lineup: Blake, Braden, Gene, Jacob, Cyndal, Lyza, Tyler, and baby Annie (in the stroller--cut off). Jacob and Lyza kept a pretty quick pace. The held hands for a little while, then just ran around together.
This outfit was a little small, but by the time I realized it it was too late. (We didn't pull costumes out of the boxes to start sorting through them until 15 minutes before we were supposed to be going out the door!)
Afterwards we headed to Sam's Club to pick up a few items. Jacob ditched his costume, but the other two got to keep their snuggly costumes on a bit longer.

Fun with Dad...and a Happy Halloween

Brian had to present at a podiatry conference this morning, so the boys and I went to church alone. But after a YM presidency meeting, we had Brian for the rest of the afternoon to ourselves!
Some of the fun things we did with Dad today:
Forts in the basement

And some scary monsters that came out of the fort
Homemade ice cream.
Pumpkin carving. Mine & Tyler's (above)--we actually made the pumpkin seeds on Sunday (Halloween) and didn't get around to carving them until Tuesday night!
Jacob & Dad's

So nice to enjoy the evening together after such a crazy weekend.

Yum! A good end to a good day!
